This Evinrude Diagnostics Software Program communicates with the Engine Control Unit (ECU) and the Engine Management Module (EMM) and is used By dealers for retrieving engine diagnostic information, setting engine operating parameters, performing engine maintenance and printing engine reports on all Evinrude'Fitch D.I.' engines and Evinrude E-TEC series engines Evinrude does not make the software for the consumer, it is for their factory trained techs at an authorized dealership. Because of that, only dealers have access to update and other data. Your best bet is to find a friendly dealer. I understand that there will be a 3rd party independent FICHT/E-TEC software program due out in a few months. It I don't see any imperative for Evinrude to change the design of the E-TEC because one customer owns a laptop without a serial port and complains. _____ EV-Diagnostic cables are currently SOLD OUT. I have never sold any USB-to-serial adaptors. I don't know where you can get free downloads of EV-Diagnostics
